When attempting to install office, the installation may fail with an error code 30016-4. The error code 30016-4 may occur due to various reasons.
Some times the error code 30016-4 because of the previous installation files which were not removed properly or due to the corrupted system files.
How to fix Microsoft Office installation error codee 30016-4
Procedure 1:
Make sure that your computer is up to date. Install the latest Windows updates to your computer.
Procedure 2:
Repair the office program from control panel
- Press windows + R key together to open RUN prompt
- In the RUN prompt type appwiz.cpl and press enter to access Programs and Features
- From the list of installed programs Right click on Microsoft Office and then click on Change/Repair and follow the onscreen instructions
Procedure 3:
Run the System File Checker Tool to fix the error code 30016-4. Follow the below instructions to run the System File Checker Tool. It is recommended to backup your data before proceeding further with System File Checker.
- Click on START button and type CMD
- After this right click on Command Prompt ( CMD ) and select run as Administrator
- Then in the command prompt window type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and “/”) and press enter key to begin the scan.
Procedure 4:
Remove and Re-install office suite to fix the error code 30016-4
If none of the above mentioned methods works to fix the error code 30016-4, remove and try re-installing the office suite.
Methods to remove office and its files.
Method1: Remove the office program from control panel
- Press windows + R key together to open RUN prompt
- In the RUN prompt type appwiz.cpl and press enter to access Programs and Features
- From the list of installed programs Right click on Microsoft Office and then click on uninstall and follow the onscreen instructions
Method 2: Remove the Windows Installer packages
- Navigate to office installation folder located in C:\Program Files\.
- Right-click the Microsoft Office 16folder and select Delete.
Method 3: Remove the Office scheduled tasks
- Click on START button and type CMD
- After this right click on Command Prompt ( CMD ) and select run as Administrator
- Once the comman prompt is up, type the following commands and press Enter after each one:
schtasks.exe /delete /tn “\Microsoft\Office\Office Automatic Updates”
schtasks.exe /delete /tn “\Microsoft\Office\Office Subscription Maintenance”
schtasks.exe /delete /tn “\Microsoft\Office\Office ClickToRun Service Monitor”
Method 4: Delete the Office files
- Press Windows logo key + R to open the Rundialog box.
- In the Openbox, type %ProgramFiles%, and then click OK.
- Delete the “Microsoft Office 16” folder.
- Delete the “Microsoft Office” folder.
- Open the Rundialog box, type %ProgramFiles(x86)%, and then click OK.
- Delete the “Microsoft Office” folder.
Method 5: Delete the Office registry sub keys
IMPORTANT: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
- Open RUN prompt by pressing Windows + R key together
- in the RUN prompt type regedit and press enter to open registry editor
- Delete the following registry subkeys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppVISV
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office
Then Deletethe Office key.
Method 6: Delete the Start menu shortcuts
- Click on START button and type CMD
- After this right click on Command Prompt ( CMD ) and select run as Administrator
- Type %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs, and then press Enter.
- Delete the “Microsoft Office 2016 Tools” folder.
After performing all the above tasks, download and install the office suite.
